These posters show all authors at the given conference from the beginning. Every author is shown in the same color every time they publish, so you can trace them across the years, and authors in each year are sorted by the date of their first publication in the conference. So someone who published at CHI'83 will always be shown in red at the bottom of the column for every year they publish. At the top of each coluumn is a calcuation of what percentage of authors for that year have not previously published in the conference.
From here you can download the fullsize images of conference visualizations. A couple of people have asked for ways to print these posters if you don't have a large format printer. There are links to buy the posters through Zazzle.com, from which I get a small kickback. The prices are still pretty good, though, and beat taking these files down to your local Kinkos.
If you'd like to refer to these in print, please reference

And in the interests of creative commons and all, here's the python code to create them yourself:
I'm told I have to have the line "In association with Zazzle.com" on here somewhere regarding buying the posters. But I figure you'd probably figure it out when you, y'know, clicked on the link and all. See below for all the Zazzle stuff. Be careful to check the posters are up-to-date before you buy.
